The Medical Research Network Sepsis (SepNet) was fundet from 2002 to 2010 by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Since 2010 the SepNet trials group is a kind of continuation of the competence network sepsis. The SepNet trials group unites clinical and experimental researchers of different disciplines to compensate deficits in sepsis diagnosis and therapy. Therefore they try to recruit acceptably large numbers of patients in multicenter studies for the examination of clinical questions.
